Here’s some of our work in various stages. We will do samples to try out new techniques. Some of our finished projects include embroidery hoops, patches and visible mending.
Couched Flowers
A quick way to make an image is to use yarn and Couching. The different types of yarns used here add a lot of texture and detail.
Doodle Stitching
It’s so therapeutic to just try out some stitches without an end goal in mind. It’s also a great opportunity to play around with some color. Doodle stitching is also a great therapy stitch.
Turkey Work
This hoop was testing out Turkey Work. Two different looks with the same stitch - loops or fringe. Filling a hoop with just one stitch is a great therapy stitch.
Autumn
This little hoop shows how you can make a cute little wreath with Thorn Stitch. Embellish it with any of your favorite stitches.
Wash Your Hands
Perfect for the time of COVID. A little reminder to wash your hands for at least 20 seconds.
Stars!
Here’s a collection of stitches that can be used for stars. So many options to fill that night sky.
Holiday Card
Stitching a snowy scene onto a card. This card is a lovely way to reach out during the holidays.
Rainbow Pride
Stitching on prints success here. Without even trying the rainbow bands worked out perfectly.
Chessboard Filling
Added a little detail to some clothing to personalize it. Chessboard Filling Stitch is a lovely way to fill in a rectangle or square.
Smocking
Trying a bit of hand smocking. The pleating process is slow, but the results are beautiful. Gingham fabric is incredibly helpful, too.
Japanese Darning Stitch
Japanese Darning Stitch creates a beautiful pattern. If you’re looking for a shortcut in getting an even layout, try a polka dot print. The offset polka dots make this stitch so easy to do.
2019 Christmas Stitch Swap
Here’s a piece we made for the 2019 British Stitchers Stitch Swap. It was really fun to create this piece for someone on the other side of the world. Their favorite part of Christmas is the Winter Markets which was the inspiration for this piece.
Hope
Testing out Couching with some beautiful variegated thick and thin yarn. There is so much texture in this project.
Mushrooms (Stitching on Prints)
Practicing some test stitches on card stock of our Mushrooms (Stitching on Prints) fabric from Spoonflower.
Valentine
You can stitch directly through card stock, but some stitches are too tough to do this way. I made a little patch and attached the patch to finish off this personalized Valentine card.
Dandelions
An artistic representation of dandelions. The Turkey Work with multiple colors of yellow help to give the look of the dandelions.
Coffee Sleeve
A great way to make a personalized coffee sleeve is to add some embroidery. I added some embroidery for the hair, eyelashes and lips on my Starbucks sleeve.
